Tip From the Archives
Wrong Eye
Problem
You cannot seem to keep your head still throughout your swing regardless of swing style.
Cure
A little head movement is natural to have throughout the swing. It is when your head moves excessively or you pick your head up prematurely that it causes problems in your swing. Try focusing on a piece of grass on the target side of the ball. Keep staring at it as long as you can after contact.
Therapy
If you are right handed and your right eye is dominate or if you are left handed and your left eye is dominate then you are more likely to have extra head movement to get a better feel for the clubhead to make contact with the ball and for target visualization. If this is an issue for you, take a few extra looks back and forth from the ball to the target before swinging. This will help you to visualize the target and your line better. Keep in mind that some players with this eye dominance issue find it easier to play with their face tilted a little towards the target at set up.
I was told something similar years ago, and that was to focus on the ball but to try and stay looking where the ball was after you've hit it & to try and see the blade of grass that the ball was sitting on after you have hit the ball. This encourages you to stay looking at the spot for a second longer and not lift your head.
