Wristy Chipper

Problem

Your hands are too active while chipping.

Cure

Turn your lead hand on the grip a little more towards the target. This will help reduce excessive wrist movement during your chips.

Therapy

In addition to turning your forward hand, you should find it useful to choke down on the grip for a little extra control. Crowd the ball a little and place it just ahead of the big toe on your trailing foot. This will help place your hands ahead of the ball. Ideally, the club should look like it is just resting on the toe. Try to limit your wrist and body movements during the swing. Think of your arms moving in almost a pendulum motion as you take the club straight back and straight through. This key thought should help remind you to avoid picking the club up with a cocking action.

I don't believe you can get too stiff wristed however. A little bend in the wrist can help add feel to the stroke. A stiff wrist can promote chili dipping or stubbing the ball.
