Wrist Pain
Problem
You have arthritis in your thumb, tendinitis, or wrist pain.
Cure
Consult your physician or a sports physiologist before playing to prevent further injuries. When you do play, use the interlocking grip and with the sore hand, take the thumb off the club. Swing at 70 to 80 percent power. With your thumb removed from the grip, it will allow more movement in your wrists. Apply ice to where it is sore and use ibuprofen to help reduce the swelling and pain.
Therapy
If your wrists are injured but you plan on playing despite the injury, use a wrist brace. Steepen your swing by standing more upright for shorter shots and avoid hinging your wrists if it is causing you pain. It will also help if you release the club early, as if you are casting a fishing rod. Another great option is to swing the club using one arm only.
