Worm Burners

Problem

You see a lot of worm burners.

Cure

If this is only happening with your driver, you might need a driver with a higher degree of loft. For instance, if you are using a 9 degree driver, try using one with 12 degrees of loft. If this is happening with your irons, remember that you need to hit down on the ball in order to get the proper loft for that iron. Check to make sure you are not setting your head or hands ahead of the ball at address. You will deloft the club if you set up with your hands ahead of the ball.

Therapy

At set up, be certain to set your hands over the ball for the majority of your clubs. However, feel free to set up with your hands slightly ahead of the ball if you are trying to make a knockdown shot or are chipping the ball. You also want to make sure you are not moving your head forwards and backwards too much during your swing. This is because you want to your head behind the ball at address and during impact. If you allow your head to sway ahead of the club at impact, it will cause the ball to skim the ground.
