Tip From the Archives
Winning Clubs
Problem
You want to take several strokes off of your average game.
Cure
What are your winning clubs? Find three clubs in your bag that are the most important to your game and schedule a little extra practice time with them.
Therapy
Keep track of all of the clubs you use on each hole by writing them down on your score card. After playing two or three rounds, total up the number of times you use each club. Find the three that you use the most and try to improve your game overall by adding in a little extra practice time with them. For an extra challenge, test their importance by trying to play a round using only these three clubs. You might find that mastering three clubs will improve your game more than playing every club in your bag at a mediocre level.
This will show that the putter is your winning club! Make sure you do have a putter you like: You should be happy and confident using your putter.
Probably putter, wedge and driver. However if you chip with a variety of clubs then it may be better to group these together. I'm not sure that this is the right approach as your putting masy already be fantastic but your chipping is rubbish. I think most people know where their weaknesses are and that's where they should try to focus. You also need to practice your strengths too.
