Windmill Warm Up

Problem

You need a quick way to warm up your muscles before teeing off.

Cure

Always try to do pregame warm up stretches to encourage blood flowing to them. If you swing with cold muscles and ligaments then you are far more likely to injure them. If you do not have time to stretch before playing then slowly swing two of your heaviest clubs together before teeing off. You should also walk as much as possible for the first few holes to help get your blood flowing a little more.

Therapy

The sand wedge is one of the heaviest clubs in the bag. Hold your sand wedge in your forward arm. Put your feet together, lean as far as possible away from the target. Extend your arm and spin your arm around like a windmill ten times; repeat in the other direction. Now lean towards the target and do ten windmills using your trailing arm; repeat in the other direction. This will stretch your rotator cuff, chest, and back.

I have also found the using a "donut" weight to be fantastic in helping warm up. Also, it can be great because the weight of the club really forces you to swing on a smooth plane.
