What to Use From the Fringe

Problem

Unable to determine how to play your ball when in the fringe.

Cure

If the ball is less than 50 feet away, then putt it in. Use a chipping motion with your putter when it is over 50 feet. If putting is not possible then use your lowest lofted club to hit as close to the pin as possible.

Therapy

When chipping from the fringe, avoid getting grass between your clubface and the ball. The ball should be no farther forward than your back ankle, and there should be only four to six inches between the insides of your shoes with more than half of your weight on your front foot to aid in a descending blow with clean contact.
