Wedge Spin

Problem

You need the ball to stop close to the hole or you are not getting as much spin with your wedges as you should.

Cure

Make sure you are setting the ball back far enough in your stance.

Therapy

In addition to setting the ball back in your stance, set up with more weight on your forward side. Keep your wrists and lower body quiet as you increase your arm speed. If you really want a lot of spin, focus on swinging your arms much faster than your body during the downswing. Plan on abruptly stopping your arms before your arms reach waist high during the follow through. Note, this does not mean to stop swinging as soon as you hit the ball. Because your arms are accelerating so quickly for this fast swing, it will only feel abrupt once you try to stop the swing in the middle of our follow through. This quick movement will impart plenty of spin.
