Tip From the Archives
Watch It
Problem
You are not improving on your ability to read the break.
Cure
Make sure you pay attention to your misses as well as your good putts.
Therapy
Avoid looking away and cursing when you know you missed the putt. Pay attention to how the ball rolls away from the ridge of the cup to help you better determine how you should play your next putt. When you miss read the break, watching how the ball rolls near the cup can help you see how dramatically the bumps and dips are around the hole. If you overshoot the hole, watch closely to see how the ball rolls away from it. Did it roll to the left or right? Did it pick up speed at a certain point?
