Visualize the Ball Flight
Problem
You have a hard time visualizing the ball landing at your selected target.
Cure
Have a friend help by moving a ball as it should from the tee all the way to your selected target as if you hit it.
Therapy
Pick a target and the club you need to get it there. Now set up to the ball and picture how it should fly, focusing especially on the proper trajectory. Discuss it with your friend. Imagine that you just hit the ball and have your friend move the ball as if you just hit it correctly. Watch the ball move to where you want it to land. As you do, try to determine the swing type and power necessary to get it there. Now have your friend move out of the way and try to hit it exactly the way it did when your friend was moving it. Adjust the length of your swing or to a different club if you did not make the trajectory or distance desired.
This would be difficult and time consuming at a golf course. Further, golf practice is generally very singular and I don't see this happening very often.
I agree with Justin above in part. . . having a friend move the ball for you is impractical. However, the visualization aspect of a golf shot is often over looked and is just as vital a part of the golf swing as tempo, follow through, etc. More often than not, a golfer will focus on the place they do not want the ball to go like into the bunker, water hazard, etc. Focus on hitting the perfect shot, visualize this happening and you are one step closer to making that shot happen.
Time to face the music armed with this great ifnoamrtion.
