Uphill Putting

Problem

You have difficulty making uphill putts. The ball rolls up to the edge of the hole but does not go in when trying to make an uphill putt.

Cure

Good visualizations can improve your uphill putting. You should try to imagine the ball rolling into the back of the cup or imagine there is a second hole behind the one you are aiming at. This will help you take a long enough stroke to reach the cup. Keep in mind that the slower the ball rolls, the more likely any imperfections in the green will alter way the ball rolls.

Therapy

Naturally, you want to make sure you take a long enough stroke to reach the hole. So, on uphill putts on rougher greens, you will want to hit the ball a little harder to help reduce the chances the ball will roll off of the path to the hole. As you increase the length of your backstroke, focus on trying to slam ball into the back of the cup.
