Tip From the Archives
Unified Chipping
Problem
You allow one arm to control too much or you need better a feel for your chips.
Cure
You want both of your hands working together throughout the swing. One good way to get both arms to work with one another is to swing them individually to develop a better feel for their roles in the shot. So if you normally swing using more of one hand than the other, use just the opposite arm first and a little more while practicing to gain a better appreciation for the role it has during the swing.
Therapy
If you feel that your lead or trailing arm is controlling your chips too much, then practice with the opposite hand. Allow that arm to feel control of the shot. Switch hands on the grip for a few swings to appreciate the roll the other hand has during the shot. Then take several practice shots with both hands, remembering the feeling you had before. If you ever feel that one arm is interfering with your chips due to too much control, just take a few practice swings with the other to help remind you how important it is in the shot so you know why it is critical to unify the two.
