Tip From the Archives
Uneven Topping
Problem
You push or top the ball when the ball is below your feet.
Cure
To help avoid topping the ball, squat a little lower with your body and choke down on the grip to help even out your lie. Due to the angle of the slope, you will naturally push the ball. Next time, plan on this happening and aim accordingly.
Therapy
For a left handed player, you want to aim a little right of the target because the ball will tend to go to the left when the ball is below your feet. If you are a right handed player, aim a little left of your intended target. Use one more club and choke down on the grip. Bend your knees until the lie feels level. Be certain to make a couple of practice swings and use a shortened backswing.
