Undulating Green
Problem
You need to pitch the ball up onto an elevated, undulating green from about ten yards away. However, you are worried that the ball will roll off of the green if goes too far or short.
Cure
Take extra time to decide where you want the ball to land on the green to help you determine how the ball will land and roll on it. If you make a bump and run, you are likely to fall victim to the undulations of the green. If you chip it too high, you might check the ball into a high point of the green, causing it to roll back away from the pin for a difficult putt or off of the green completely. To help prevent this from happening, try to hit the ball so it only goes up about six feet high.
Therapy
To avoid getting the ball too high, make a normal pitch shot with your sand wedge. Place the ball in the center of your stance. You do not need to hit down on it or try to pick it up, just make a normal swing so you hit the ball in the bottom of your swing.
