Turning Left

Problem

You are a right handed player that slices the ball and aiming your feet left does not help. So for a left handed player, you notice that aiming your feet right is not helping your slice.

Cure

Quit adjusting your stance to correct the slice. When a player aims their feet left and swing across the ball, this will only make the slice worse due to applying additional sidespin on the ball. The more left you try to keep the ball, the more it will bend to the right. If you need a quick slicing fix for your round, try to hook the ball instead of a slice. Do this by closing the clubface, rolling your arms and wrist over a little more.

Therapy

A slice is from the ball leaving an open clubface due to either a weak grip or stiff wrists at impact. Make sure the V-shape you form on the grip with your thumb and forefinger of both hands are pointing towards your back shoulder or a little outside of it. Wide, Inside should be a key thought to remember to take the club back in a shallow curve. You want to return to the ball in the same curve as you did when you brought the club back. Allow your lead arm to control the club a little more, this way you can prevent your trailing shoulder from becoming too active in the downswing. After impact, your lead arm should fold in so it is out of the way for a full finish.
