Tip From the Archives
Tucked Elbow
Problem
You are confident that your body is square to the target at set up yet you still see mostly pulled iron shots with deep divots.
Cure
Check to ensure that you are not setting the ball too far forward in your stance or that you do not have too much weight placed on your forward foot.
Therapy
Set the ball in the middle of your stance. Slowly practice your swing while concentrating on swinging from inside the target line to the outside. Let your arms initiate the backswing, bringing the clubhead along the inside of the target line. As you turn during the downswing, you want to remember to bring your trailing elbow closer to your body. By the time you reach impact, the elbow of your trailing arm should be tucked into your side.
