Thin Bunker

Problem

You need to hit the ball out of a fairway bunker and you have a long distance before you can make it to the green.

Cure

Unlike most sand shots, you will want to make contact with the ball directly when hitting out of a fairway bunker. You need to hit it more like a normal fairway shot, moving only a little sand.

Therapy

Set up so you have an equal amount of weight on both of your feet and keep this weight distribution throughout the entire swing. Focus on trying to hit just below the equator of the golf ball with the first grove on the clubface so you can hit it thin.

on a 50-60 yard bunker take your 8 or 9 iron and open the face and open your stance just a lil and swing nowrmally along your foot line

Because you are not shifting your weight as much as a normal swing also take one iron stronger than you would normally hit for the distance needed. i.e. a 5 iron rather than a 6 iron

focus on looking at the side of the ball facing the target has always helped me pick the ball cleanly out of the bunker
