Tip From the Archives

The Windy Downhill Sand Shot

Problem

It is windy out and you find your ball on a downhill slope in the sand.

Cure

You need let the club release instead of guiding it.

Therapy

As you would with any hilly lie, align your hips and shoulders to the slope. Place the ball off of your front foot. Pre-turn a little at address with your weight on the inside of the heel on your front foot. Use your wedge but treat your swing more like you are putting it. This way you can keep the ball low and still get some distance out of it.
