Tip From the Archives

The Push Slicer

Problem

You push slice the ball.

Cure

Move the ball up in your stance because you might be setting it too far back.

Therapy

Do not try too hard to hit the ball fast or hard. Practice swinging the club while focusing on your unifying your body and arms as you swing. Use a nice and relaxed grip to help encourage a free release. Many push slicers tend to grip the club too hard and unwind their shoulders too quickly, causing the club to move through the impact zone well after their body. You should also make sure you are not swinging too much inside of the target line, causing the clubface to open at impact.

A timely article. Was striking the ball beautifully. Good distance and very accurate and then push/slice even the dreaded unprintable word begining with 'Shhhhh'! don't even mention it. Reading the therapy on this tip, I can almost guarantee that the symptoms are me to a tee! May the Gods smile on the Archivist for his or her timely advice.
