The Flicker
Problem
You have difficulties with controlling distances with shots around the green and you feel you have quick wrist movements.
Cure
Make sure you are not flicking your wrists in attempt to control distances. By flicking your wrist, you change the loft of the club and the arch of your swing.
Therapy
Try to work on low shots around the green. Set the ball back in your stance and your hands ahead of the ball. Place more weight on your forward leg. Do not allow your hands to flick the club through the shot. Instead, simply make a very short backswing with your arms and wrists straight. Use a key thought of keeping your forward arm straight to help stabilize the club. The club should not come up any higher off of the ground than the height of your knees. Now allow the club to almost drop into the back edge of the ball. Keep the club moving through the ball and end the swing once it is as high as your knees. You do not want your hands to pass your hands. If you find that you are still having a hard time keeping your hands stable through the shot, practice making chips while taking your trailing hand off of the club just before impact.
