The Cross Handed Grip

Problem

You were told to use the cross handed grip to help eliminate your yips but you do not know what it is.

Cure

Players often convert to the Cross Handed grip for a short while to help change the way they feel the putter or club. This sensory change can be all that is needed to help eliminate the yips. This is a great way to help prevent you hands from becoming overactive during your swing. Other golfers will do this if they are playing right handed when they are really left handed and vice versa.

Therapy

The adjustment is simple to do because all you really do is switch hand positions. If your right hand is normally on top, use your left hand towards the top of the club instead. Remember to keep your thumbs aligned as you would use in your normal grip; interlock your hands if this is how you normally grip the club. This is much easier to become accustomed to using when putting than it would with a full swing.

My right handed putting got so bad with yippy putts that I tried putting left handed and it worked! Now I put much better; 95% of my ten footers go close, if not in, and the three footers drop more often without the stress I used to feel. Give it a go!
