Tip From the Archives
Target Net
Problem
You need to work on your consistency and trajectory with your iron shots.
Cure
Use a hitting net and place a target in it or color a small section in the center of the net. Practice hitting so that the ball only makes contact at your target.
Therapy
Stand about 10 yards away with your highest wedge and practice hitting at the target area. Then move back a foot and hit with your next wedge in your bag; slowly moving back as you work your way through each of your wedges. Start about 9 yards away when using your 9 iron and continue progressively moving away from the target as you work your way though the rest of your irons. If you are prone to outside distractions when playing out on the course, select the best club to land you at your desired location and pretend you are trying to hit the target into your net.
