Tip From the Archives
Swing on a Hill
Problem
You have a reoccurring slice.
Cure
Find a hill that you can practice on either at home, on the range, or on the course. A hill is a perfect location to practice on because it causes a natural hook and will help flatten your swing.
Therapy
Set up with the ball above your feet or an uphill lie. Use a middle iron and use a stronger grip with your leading hand. Practice hitting the ball on the hill until you are pulling or hooking the ball. These hilly lies will encourage you to use a flatter swing. Once this swing feels comfortable to you, switch to a flatter location and use the same swing and set up.
Or golf in West Virginia, most all of your lies will be on hills.
