Tip From the Archives
Swing Big
Problem
You hit behind the ball in the sand but you still cannot seem to get the ball out of the greenside bunker.
Cure
Focus on splashing sand on the green by taking an aggressive swing.
Therapy
Do not let the short distance intimidate you out of making a full swing into the sand. In addition to opening the clubface, you also want to make sure that the divots you are making in the bunker are about the length of a dollar bill, starting at least an inch before the ball. Spend some time practicing this swing on a slow day on the course without a ball. Simply make an aggressive swing with a dollar sized divot that splashes plenty of sand onto the green.
