Stop Flubbing Your Wedges

Problem

Wedge shots that fly short and unpredictably.

Cure

When the contact is on the toe, it could be due to an open stance that causes an Out to In swing or it could be from swinging over the top. Work on quality of impact by making an Inside Square Inside swing so that the impact will occur all over the face.

Therapy

Hit your wedges with either impact tape or talcum powder to see where you are hitting on the clubface. Lay a 2x4 on the ground on its long side and place a ball one inch from the wood. Swing and if you hit the top or side of the board then you need to practice until you make clean contact without touching it before or after impact.

Lay a 2X4 where? Outside the ball? Inside the ball? Behind the ball?
