Tip From the Archives
Stop Dipping
Problem
Your forward shoulder keeps dropping at the beginning of your swing.
Cure
The dipping action of your forward shoulder creates a feeling of turning your shoulders. Work on making a better shoulder turn during your backswing to move your shoulder away from the ball.
Therapy
Try to create a pulling sensation at your trailing shoulder to help create a better turn. If you can pull your trailing shoulder away from the ball into a turn, it will help prevent your forward shoulder from dropping. Because you are now turning instead of tilting your shoulders, you will have a flatter swinging plane and therefore hit longer drives.
