Tip From the Archives
Start Slow
Problem
You have been trying to add a greater turn to your swing but now you find that you are slicing the ball.
Cure
Over accelerating or forcing your body to turn too far will change the angle the clubhead will approach the ball and cause a slice. Wishing to improve your swing is wonderful but it will need to take time, practice, and perhaps some daily stretches or exercise to help you get there.
Therapy
Notice how easy it is to swing from the inside to out path when you try to swing too hard. It also makes it easier to lose a proper weight shift. A strong slice may occur if you are trying to force your hips into a turn greater than your legs can handle. Remember that you are supposed to continuously accelerate throughout your swing but this means you should start by taking the club away from the ball slowly and then gradually accelerate from this point.
