Tip From the Archives
Start Short
Problem
You need to work on consistency with your irons.
Cure
Become more target oriented instead of focusing on trying to gain the most distance possible out of each club. If you need a key thought during your swing, think about returning your hands at impact as they were at address.
Therapy
Start practicing with your shortest iron and work your way up to the longest iron on the range. Find one target that is easy for the ball to reach using this club. Simply work on reaching this target with the ball landing at the same location or within ten feet every time. Once you have had consistent results with this club, select a target that is further away and use a longer club to reach it. This will help you gauge what your standard distance is for each club and allow you to become more consistent with them.
