Square Shoulders

Problem

You consistently slice the ball.

Cure

Work on squaring the clubface at impact. Remember, your takeaway is a sets up the rest of your swing. So, keep the clubhead square for the couple of feet as you are taking the club back.

Therapy

One simple adjustment that might help eliminate your slice is to rotate your leading hand on the grip in the direction of the target. You might be slicing the ball because your shoulders are opening prematurely during the swing. To try to correct this, setup without a club and extend your leading arm with your fingers straight. Swing your trailing arm back while your leading arm remains in place. Swing your trailing hand and hit your leading hand. Contact should occur in front of the center of your chest. If your hands meet in front either one of your shoulders then you know you are not squaring your shoulders at impact.
