Tip From the Archives

Square Impact

Problem

Your shots are very inconsistent with just one club or club type.

Cure

To encourage square contact, tee the ball with the logo turned so that it is placed where the clubface will make contact with the ball. Then, clear your mind and think of only making flush contact with the logo.

Therapy

Check to make sure you are setting up correctly with this club. You might be psyched out about this club and the tension is causing you to set up incorrectly. If it is a particular set in your bag that is causing you a problem, it might be due to having the wrong grip size for your hands. Check to make certain that the club is not turning in your hands by placing a ball marker between your thumbs. Swing to see if it moved position by the end of your swing. Test your grip pressure by holding the club as usual and have a friend pull on the clubhead. If it moves too easily, you know you need to apply a stronger grip. If after applying your strongest grip pressure still allows a lot of movement, visit your local golf pro and check your grip size.

stupid tip. This way you more likely will hit against the ball instead through the ball.

@Lo: I do not agree with you, although you wil hit the logo, it is obvious that you have to keep swinging, causing the club/feel to go through the ball. But it will be a big mental challange to literally forget about the difficult club (Stupid Fairway 3!;)) Gr.
