Solid Wrist for Solid Putts

Problem

You come a few feet short of the hole because you allowed your top wrist to break down at impact. This causes the blade of the putter to pass your hands at contact.

Cure

To help prevent your lead wrist from collapsing at impact, keep the blade low by allowing your forward wrist ahead of the clubhead. You should notice a more controlled stroke when you allow your wrist to remain strong and ahead of your swing.

Therapy

Try using a modified version of the reverse overlap grip. Place your bottom hand onto the grip first with your thumb pointing down. Place your top hand onto the grip with your thumbs touching and allow the pointer finger to lie across the fingers on your bottom hand. Locate a dimple on the back of the top of the ball with a spot on your chest. Focus on keeping your wrists and body still while you use your arms and shoulders to swing the putter without moving that spot on your chest.
