Tip From the Archives
Soft Flop
Problem
The ball is sitting against the outer edge of the fringe, so the clubface will move through taller grass than what the ball is sitting on.
Cure
Try to hit a half chip or soft chip so that the ball gains lots of loft with a short, slow roll.
Therapy
Use your most lofted club and set the ball forward in your stance. Take a wide, open stance with your weight evenly placed on each leg. Open the clubface and then grip the club. Preset your wrists and try to keep your wrists bent up during the backswing and into the forward swing. Although you want forward wrist to be flat at impact, you want to keep angle of your trailing wrist as long as possible.
