Tip From the Archives
Slicing Under Pressure
Problem
You tense up and slice the ball.
Cure
Your hands will grip the club harder when you are tense and this will throw off your swing. Try relaxing your hands and arms at address.
Therapy
If your trailing arm tightens up, it will cause you to grip the club too hard and it will be extended a little at set up. This will cause you to swing outside of the target line and slice the ball. Set up to the ball and pretend that you are shaking hands with the club using your trailing arm then waggle the club before you swing. This should help relax your arms and therefore set your trailing arm up closer to your body.
