Tip From the Archives
Slicing Due to a Poor Setup
Problem
Addressing the ball with your shoulders aligned too far to the left will cause you to slice. Many people make the mistake of lifting their left heel during the backswing, which is one of the most common causes of a slice.
Cure
You can change direction of the center of your chest to help direct the path of the ball. It is also important to remember to keep your forward heel down during your backswing.
Therapy
Make sure the center of your chest is square to the ball at address and at impact. If looking for a slight fade, aim the center of your chest a little left of the golf ball and at impact; for a draw, aim the center of the chest a little right.
