Simple Fix for Yips
Problem
The clubface opening and closing inconsistently to help compensate for poor alignment or because you perceive the swing is completed once contact is made with the ball.
Cure
Take some time to focus on your aim and not as much on the distance when practicing. Many people get excited at the last seconds of impact and turn the clubface at impact because they perceive the swing is finished; which makes the follow through even more important.
Therapy
Place two clubs so that one is aligned in front of your feet and the other is placed 4 inches parallel with the first (the distance may need to be adjusted depending on the putter type). Now practice putting along the path you have just created. Some people find it easier to control their yips by using one hand or practicing different grip styles.
