Tip From the Archives
Sidehill Lies Require an Upright Swing
Problem
Standing up as you swing because your sense of balance tries to keep you from falling down the slope or swinging too flat and hitting the ground before you make contact with the ball.
Cure
Stand closer and use a more upright swing when the ball is below your feet.
Therapy
You need to practice on a sidehill and stand closer to the ball than you normally would. Maintain your original address position throughout the entire swing and be sure to make a smooth, vertical backswing. Good contact with the ball will result in a low flight curving right so it will be important to aim a little left of the target.
