Shoulder Blade Stretches

Problem

You need to increase your range of motion during your backswing and follow through.

Cure

The muscles around the shoulder blades easily become injured during golf. Stretching these muscles will help blood flow to this area, increase your range of motion, and therefore improve power and accuracy.

Therapy

Stand or sit straight up and hug yourself so that your hands hold your shoulder blades. Lean forward and drop your chin. Hold this position for fifteen seconds. Now do a few shoulder rolls; focus on moving your shoulders forward, up, then squeeze your shoulders back, and then push them downwards then repeat. Stretch the back of your shoulders by reaching your left arm across your chest. Grab just above that elbow with your right hand and pull your left arm so that it turns your upper body. Hold this position for thirty seconds and do it to the other side.
