Tip From the Archives
Short Steep Sand
Problem
You have to hit the ball up a steep hill, out of the sandpit. To make matters worse, you need to get the ball to land on your side of the pin in order to keep the ball on the green.
Cure
The key to this shot is to make sure you have enough loft to get it up, over the lip of the sand bunker and this will help shorten the distance.
Therapy
Use your most lofted club. Open the blade. The more loft you need, the more you should open it. Be certain that you swing a little faster than normal. If one of your feet is higher than the other at set up, bend the higher knee to help even your hips and shoulders for a more level shot.
