Tip From the Archives

Shallow Drag

Problem

You need extra yardage when driving.

Cure

Try to shallow out your swing to help widen it. By allowing your driver head to swing along the ground longer, it will increase the impact zone and therefore make cleaner contact with the ball for added distance.

Therapy

Set up as usual. Drag the club back by the big toe on your trailing foot then swing. Try to extend your arms before turning your body. It will help keep the bottom of your swing a little flatter. The clubface should appear a little open as you drag the club into impact zone. As you release, the clubface will be square to the target.

I agree. This tip will also help you create a nice inside-out swing path, giving you even more yardage with a nice draw.
