Set Up Illusion

Problem

You want to know the difference in distance that your hands should be from your body at address at setup with each club.

Cure

You do not really need to move a lot closer to the ball with a wedge than you do with your driver. It is mostly an illusion based on the length of the club. The key to determining your distance from the ball is by setting up with proper posture. Your posture will be mostly the same regardless of the club you use thus the ball placement will barely change.

Therapy

Stand up straight with a slight knee flex. Tilt your chest forward by bending at the hips. Stop once you have allowed your upper body to tilt about 30 degrees forward. Now simply allow your hands to hang straight down from this position. Grip your hands as if you have a club in them and note the position and feeling. This is the set up your should have once you address the ball. Use this natural placement of your arms and hands to indicate the correct location for them at set up. Repeat this with any of your clubs to see where the clubhead lies to find your ball placement.

How would this differ between someone who's 6 feet tall, and a golfer 5 feet 5 inches? Seems like there would be some difference.
