Scooping the Ball
Problem
You are scooping the golf ball with your irons.
Cure
Always remember to hit down on the ball with your irons. As long as you have clean contact with the ball and hit down on the ball, you will get the proper amount of loft needed to get the ball up. So you do not need to scoop to get the ball up into the air.
Therapy
A great way to help prevent scooping the ball is to focus on rotating your leading arm towards the target during your forward swing. This will encourage a good release and a downward blow onto the ball. Be careful of forcing this turnover with your trailing arm because it could cause you to hook or pull the ball unintentionally.
