Sand Weight Shift
Problem
You have difficulty swinging in the sand due to a poor weight distribution.
Cure
Instead of placing more weight on your forward leg, start out by placing only sixty percent of your weight on it. Then slide your hips a little towards the target, which will distribute more weight onto your forward leg.
Therapy
Make sure that your stance is lightly open with your feet firmly anchored into the sand. Place the ball a little forward of the center of your stance. Make sure that your hands are behind the ball so that you keep your clubface in an open position. A weak grip with a long and lazy swing works best in the sand. You should barely have any weight shift during your backswing. Although you are making an easy swing, a proper shoulder turn is necessary to create the speed you need in the sand. Allow your wrists to hinge to help bring the club up. The club should be open to help you make contact with the sand behind the ball with the bottom of the club or flange because this part of the club needs to move through the sand and under the ball. Your tailing arm should release to help the clubhead to move in front of your hands, which will help the club to move under the ball and through the sand. You should be facing the target as you complete your shoulder turn during the follow-though.
