Rough Pitch

Problem

You need to make a pitch shot from thick Bermuda rough from an uphill lie near the edge of the green.

Cure

Remember to make contact with the ball first by hitting down on it.

Therapy

Play the ball back in your stance. Match your shoulders and hips to the angle of the slope with your feet close together. Be certain to accelerate into the ball with an aggressive swing. Due to the lie, it may feel as if you are hitting underneath the ball which is why is important that you still make a downward motion with your arms and to finish your swing. The more the ball is sitting down in the grass, the more you want to move the handle through the shot.
