Tip From the Archives
Rolling Bunker Shot
Problem
You are in a greenside bunker with the pin is set on the back side of the green.
Cure
Let the ball roll across the green instead of taking a high and short shot, just to get it out.
Therapy
You can still focus on making the sand splash onto the green and use your usual swing. However, what will make the difference is setting your body and the clubface square to the target instead of setting it open like you would usually do in the sand. This shot can be improved by releasing the club and focusing on getting the toe of the wedge to point up so the clubface is a little closed. This will allow you to skull the ball for plenty of roll across the green.
