Reverse It

Problem

You are always stressed out about the first few holes of your round or cannot seem to hit the ball well until you reach the 4th tee box.

Cure

Pull out the scorecard and play out the course in reverse as you practice. This way you will have already mastered the shots needed and the first few holes are still fresh in your mind.

Therapy

Even if you do not have enough time to practice every hole on the course, select at least the last and the first two holes to master. Visualize how you should play the course and which shots you will need to use. Start with 18th hole. This is wonderful for a positive image because you know you already have these shots in your bag and can repeat them with ease when you are actually playing your round. Practice the 2nd and then the 1st hole last. Start out with your chip shot and work your way back to driving the ball. When you hit the ball really well, hold your finish and visualize that the ball is flying and rolling as you would expect it to on the course. There is no need to be anxious over these holes because you just played them and can play them well.
