Release for a Draw
Problem
You want to draw the ball but end up with a blocked shot or a duck hook.
Cure
When swinging, is your key thought to shift all of your weight forward and to get your back foot up during the downswing? If so, you might be picking your trailing foot up too soon, causing a poor release. In order to draw the ball, you must have a proper release. Try to work on improving the timing of your release.
Therapy
Close your stance and clubface. Apply a stronger grip pressure with your forward hand to help encourage a better release. Bring the club back along the alignment of your feet, moving just inside of the target line late in your backswing. Follow this path as you return the club to the ball but remember to keep the inside of your trailing foot in contact with the ground a little longer. When you do, you will notice that you are able to have a little more natural release because you are better able to swing around your body more for a fuller swing. A good key thought for an improved release is to focus on allowing the toe of the club to pass the heel.
