Tip From the Archives
Recovery
Problem
The ball landed somewhere off of the fairway and you will not be able to make a direct shot to reach the green.
Cure
If there are obstacles blocking access to or near the green then plan on taking the easiest or closest shot to the fairway.
Therapy
Instead of taking a penalty for an unplayable lie, try to find an unobstructed path to get the ball back to the center of the fairway, even if it is a little further away from the pin. This way you will have a better shot and benefit a little from the additional stroke. You do not have to try hard to do it. Relax and allow the weight of the wedge to do the work for you. If you are playing from tall or thick grass, make sure you place the ball back in your stance and take a steeper swing.
