Range of Motion Exercises
Problem
You are not as flexible as you used to be and want to improve the position of the top of your backswing and ability to follow through.
Cure
Not only should you stretch your back, arms, and chest before playing a round, it is equally important to do daily stretches to help improve the range of motion of your body. Once you do, you will find you can hit further than before.
Therapy
Stand up straight with your feet shoulder width apart. Hold your longest iron above your head by gripping it near both ends. Allow your left arm to pull the club down to your left side, stretching the right side of your body. Repeat on the other side. After doing this a couple of times, return the club above your head. Keep your arms straight as you lower the club to the front of your thighs. Bring the club back up and down to feel a stretch in your arms, shoulders and chest. Now do the same exercise but bring the club down to your ankles and return to the top. Make sure you do this slowly as you keep your upper body and legs as straight as possible to feel the stretch in your legs as you go down and arms, torso, and abs as you bring the club up.
