Putt Under a Club

Problem

You often look up during your putts. This causes you to pull your body back, moves the putter up higher during the stroke, and likely opens the putterface.

Cure

Keep in mind that it is very unlikely that you will lose the ball on the putting green. When you are anxious to see if you made par, just listen for the ball to roll into the cup.

Therapy

Lay a club on the green and prop the middle of the grip up by placing a tee into the green. Place the ball on the ground about three to four inches behind the butt of the grip. Practice putting so the putter has to move under the grip during your follow through. This will force you to practice keeping your head down throughout the entire stroke. While playing on the course, imagine that you are trying to keep your putter under the club during your follow through.

A clever drill indeed.Anything which keeps one from moving the head.Daily observation of the PGA circuits' players shows they all do it and the results are Oh! so predictable...another putt!!
