Pushing Putter
Problem
It feels as if you are pushing the putter from behind, into the ball.
Cure
When you pull an object with your hands, the object will follow that path. If you push an object with your hands it is just as likely to move off to the left or right. So, if you make a stroke that feels like you are pushing the shaft of the putter forwards, it will allow it to move off the target line or turn the putterface for poor contact. However, if you allow the feeling in your hands and wrists that you are pulling the putter, towards the ball, the clubhead will follow that path.
Therapy
Take out your sand wedge and hold it as if it is a putter. Allow your arms to hang as loose as noodles. Swing the club back and forth in a small pendulum motion. Feel the weight of the clubhead as you do it, allowing the motion to increase as you build up momentum. You should notice that your hands hardly move from the setup position. In order to return the clubhead to the center of your stance, that you need to almost pull the club to do so. Once you have a good pendulum feeling, do the same with your putter before you practice your shots.
